Early on the morning of 13th April 2016, 13 sleepy Deal and Walmer Wheelers cycled into the docks at Dover, for the biannual trip to France. It seemed as if Phil the leader, had managed to arrange the weather for a third time. The arrangements were superb. Two routes were planned, enabling slower cyclists to take a slightly shorter, yet still challenging route, whilst the hardy cyclists tackled some very stiff hills. Both routes were picturesque giving great views over the Channel.
The groups split and met seamlessly, a great lunch was devoured, people eating too much, and a lovely flat route by the canals took everyone back to catch the ferry which was on time, enabling a return to Deal before complete dark.
Another great day, the only casualty being a broken chain which was repaired by the ‘resident mechanic’. Roll on the next trip.
